Simplicity can be a thing of beauty as evidenced in these House of Hoops Edition Dunks. This is part of the East Dunks and while appears to be simply an all white shoe set against a contrasting midsole look again, the details set it apart. The monotony of the swan upper is broken up by the volt stitching and lining. The midsole is laced with swan and volt speckling and set atop a white outsole. An added detail is the cartoon character on the insole which varies from shoe to shoe in the House of Hoops Series. And if that isn’t enough for you, the leather is very subtly textured. Set to release in October there is a slight wait for the shoes but since its footlocker they shouldnt be hard to find once they drop. Via Nikedunksale.com

The last two Dunk styles we showed you are nearly impossible to obtain (see Gucci, DQM x Nike Dunk Unreleased Sample). In the same manner, the two subtle colorways of the Nike Dunk Hi AC may be difficult to come across as well. With that said, both colorways will release tomorrow, September 26th, 2009 at select retailers such as Undefeated. Both pairs will feature a 100% canvas base combined with a white sole. One pair will come in an all-grey colorway, while the other pair owns an all-black color scheme. Is this the best Dunk release of 2009? Sneak peeks of Nike’s halloween lineups have popped up lately, and we covered the Air Max 90 “Day of the Dead” recently, too. Of course it was only natural that one of Nike’s favorite silhouettes got a Halloween treatment, courtesy of the “Day of the Dead” Dunk.Expect these just after Halloween, strangely, along with the aforementioned AM90s and a third Nike. DQM x Nike Dunk High Black/Black Unreleased Sample

In Complex’s recent Top 100 Best Sneakers of the 2000’s, they deemed the DQM Dunks the third best sneaker of the 2000’s. In addition, Complex also referenced a never-before-seen colorway of the DQM Dunk that never saw the light of day. However, DQM has now released a photo of this sneaker.
This Dunk keeps the same all-over perforated pattern as the aforementioned collaboration. Yet, instead of the vibrant color schemes, this particular pair features a 100% black base. The Nike SB stories get better and better by the release, especially with the Dunks. While Nike has focused predominantly on crafting the Dunk into masterpiece this year the folks in Nike’s SB department have focused on putting out meaningful models that have a good story behind them. Regardless if you skate or not this 720 Degrees Nike SB Dunk uses a good mix of vibrant colors that are inspired from the 1986 Atari video game. These Dunks are part of a Nike SB Quickstrike pack that will be hitting SB retailers in the month of May; the other shoe is the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Piet Mondrian”.

The Doernbecher is spawning some pretty dope kicks that are giving the boys at Beaverton a serious run for their money. Makayla Hansen took a stab at giving a Skinny Dunk High the business and her design swept the competition. The basketball inspired shoe has multicolored panels an a blue pebbled leather upper that mimics the feel of a basketball. Nike keeps the East vs. West competition going with the release of their new pack, the East V.S. West Rivals Pack. This Dunk Hi is an ‘in your face’ colorway, with a black suede upper, accented with a deep pink undersole, laces and swoosh. The back is covered with a perforated metallic silver, with a matte silver suede on the heel. The tongue tag features the Nike branding with an embroidered “East” below it.

Coraline, a stop action animation film directed by Henry Selick (Nightmare before Christmas), opened in the US this past weekend. Based on a book by Neil Gaiman, it’s the first feature film from Phil Knight’s Portland, OR animation studio Laika.

The rising importance of Hello Kitty in the United States in the last decade reflects the craze over the children’s brand in Asia since the 1970s. Since its introduction into the NBA the “Dunk” or “Slam Dunk” “Slam” “Jam” and countless other namesakes have been one of the most interesting, and exciting parts of the game. But in recent years the dunks have become stale, prompting many to say the golden age of the dunk has passed. That may not be true, as demonstrated this past weekend in the All-star game the dunk is alive and well. In the early days dunks were a no-no in the NBA. Anyone who left their feet was at risk of finding them knocked from under them when they came back down. But in these days the NBA ways on the ground, near the basket. There was no three points line, and the most shots were taken near the basket. It was a small mans game as the likes of Bob Cousey, and George Yardley ruled the hardwood. By the 1960s the big men had made their presance in the NBA felt. Guys like Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlin could dunk, but it was more of a force then finesse and style. It was not until the late 60s that the modern dunk was invented, and it wasnot invented in the NBA. In 1967 owners in many smaller cities that could not lure an NBA team, formed their own league. The American Basketball Association or ABA as it become called was made up of many players who were said not good enough to be in the NBA. But the ABA introduced no concepts to the game of basketball such as a three points line, and reinvented the Dunk.

This is a sample of the Nike Dunk SB Low Skate Or Die Edition. The Nike Dunk High Pro SB – Skate or Die (Black / Neon Yellow) derives its inspiration and colors from the 1987 Skate or Die video game artwork. The game featured two ramp events, the freestyle ramp and the high jump, two downhill events, the downhill race (in a park setting) and the downhill jam (in a street setting), and the pool joust.
The color listed on the tag is Black / Neon Yellow. It does come with 2 pairs of laces, the blue and neon yellow. This is part of the Nike SB Spring 2008 lineup. They are modeled after the 87’s or 88’s video game Skate Or Die as you can see from the picture. The colors and confetti patterns are on the back and sides.
